Movember

Our vision is to have an everlasting impact on the face of men's health

Movember Foundation LogoMovember is an international fund raising organisation with a strong focus on raising awareness of men's health issues. Movember may be most well-known for its annual charity initiative which takes place in November when participating men around the globe grow moustaches in a united movement to raise funds for and awareness of men's health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health.

With over one million Mo Bros and Mo Sistas across 21 countries, Movember is now recognised as one of the world's leading non-government funders of research and care programs for men's health issues.

At a national level Movember partners with the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA), who are dedicated to reducing the impact of prostate cancer on Australian men, their partners, families and the wider community.

While at a global level, the Movember Foundation funds the Global Action Plan (GAP), an international research collaboration initiative that is accelerating outcomes by providing researchers from around the world the opportunity to work together on specific research projects. Take a look at the video below for a brief overview of the concept and details of the first funded project.

Working with prostate and testicular cancer partners from around the world, Movember identified an opportunity to accelerate research outcomes by providing researchers across the world the opportunity to work together on specific projects.

By bringing together international researchers, GAP facilitates a new and unprecedented level of global research collaboration within the cancer community. Over time, researchers will share data about what worked, what didn’t, and will avoid duplication of research efforts. The aim is to deliver greater return on investment for Movember and other organisations in prostate and testicular cancer research.

Today, there are five GAP projects underway that have brought together more than 250 of the world's top prostate and testicular cancer researchers, all committed to working together on research and sharing their knowledge in the area.

Movember funds are helping researchers around the world conduct vital research into prostate cancer, in an effort to make a significant difference to the lives of men who experience the disease, the families who support them and to reduce the incident and mortality rate.

Movember's vision is to have a permanent impact on men's health and to achieve this, Movember is committed to investing funds in initiatives that support prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health in the following program areas:

  • awareness and education
  • living with and beyond cancer
  • staying mentally healthy, living with and beyond mental illness
  • research
