Investigating the biological response to stereotactic radiation in oligometastatic prostate cancer
Our objective is to characterise the radiobiology and biological response of bone tissue and prostate tumours in response to stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) applied to prostate cancer xenograft models of metastatic tumour growth within bone. To achieve this we will undertake the following aims:
-
Investigate SBRT dose and fractionation for effects on tumour and bone response using prostate cancer intratibial tumour models with differential bone-interacting phenotypes +/-ADT.
-
Use optimised does of SBRT in the context of ADT to test the co-effect of bisphosphonates (zolendronic acid) and radiosensitisers (Nimorazole) on bone remodelling and tumour response.
