Want to know how to profile your research in the media and better understand traditional and new media engagement techniques.

This TRI seminar brings together researchers and media experts to share insights on using traditional and non-traditional media to boost awareness of your research.

The seminar will also highlight the use of visuals, such as graphics and animation, to demonstrate complicated information in a simplistic and entertaining way to the community and to funding bodies, and to have these on hand when preparing for the media call or activity.

The seminar is aimed at helping students and researchers to profile their research in the media whether that is using the traditional formats of radio, television and print or the rapidly expanding social media.

A free event, the audience will include students and researchers from partner institutes based at TRI and those based at other institutes.

Speakers include:

  1. Drew Berry, WHI: Using visual media to communicate your research
  2. Mel Kettle: Benefits of using social media
  3. Liz Minchin, The Conversation: The value of translating your expert knowledge for a broader audience and how to pitch these stories to media outlets.
