The purpose of the symposium is to have international and national experts from all manner of clinical professions present advancements in research and clinical practice to staff. It is also designed to allow clinicians from within PAH to present their work amongst colleagues and to provide valuable networking opportunities.

The aim of this format is to promote both quality care for patients as well as improvements in staff training and culture. Over the years, the PAH has acquired international status in liver and kidney transplantation, melanoma treatment, laparoscopic surgery, gout treatment, cardiac disease management and vaccination for cervical cancer. The symposium provides an opportunity to discuss these advancements and build on them for the future.

With the exciting academic growth and health care development on the PAH campus, the 2015 Health Symposium will highlight:

  • translational research and partnerships across health disciplines
  • improved and more cost-effective treatments for cancer; trauma; inflammation; neurology and chronic diseases
  • rehabilitation in the acute care setting
  • educational sessions integrating health service with smart e-applications and digital technologies
  • evidence and innovation in practice
  • workshops lead by experts in research techniques and sponsor-driven options.

The Symposium will be augmented by a multidisciplinary program of oral and poster presentations – awarding the best basic, medical, surgical, nursing and allied health research with the prestigious PAH Week Research Awards.
