"Translational research in oncology"

Professor Kenneth O'Byrne

Professor Kenneth O'Byrne is a Consultant Medical Oncologist with a particular interest in management of lung cancer.  He is currently clinical director of the HOPE directorate at St James's Hospital and clinical professor at Trinity College, Dublin and intends to take up the positions of Eminent Consultant Medical Oncology position at PAH and Professor of Health Sciences at QUT in January 2013.

This relocation is facilitated by the Queensland Government award of a Senior Clinical Research fellowship valued at $4.25 million over five years.  Prof O'Byrne's research group has interests in carcinogenesis and the identification of novel biomarkers and targeted therapies in lung cancer and mesothelioma.  His team effectively translates their discoveries and he has led over 100 clinical trials.
