Biography
Dr Lau completed his PhD study in 2011 at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. His PhD project was focusing on the molecular events that underline the stepwise progression of hepatocellular carcinoma, specifically looking at the underlying mechanisms of Hepatitis B virus-human fusion transcript controlling metastasis.
After receiving his PhD award, Dr Lau was joining his previous lab during his M.phil study and worked on the project to identify circulating microRNAs as a non-invasive biomarker of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) development. He was also focusing on investigating the roles of particular microRNAs during NPC carcinogenesis.
Dr Lau joined APCRC-Q in May 2012. His current research interest is to understand the cell cycle regulation during cancer development. He is also interested in the roles of cancer stem cells in prostate cancer.
Research interests
Cell cycle regulation during cancer development; roles of cancer stem cells in prostate cancer.
