<p>The only global extension of this hugely popular initiative, World Science Festival Brisbane reinforces Queensland Museum’s position as a leader in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education and engagement.</p>
<p>World Science Festival Brisbane is a key pillar event of <a href="https://curiocitybrisbane.com/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Curiocity</a>, a major new annual event for Brisbane in March and April, where the CBD, Southbank Cultural Precinct and the creative hub around the Brisbane Powerhouse in New Farm will come to life with a range of curious encounters with <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GMLUXJhETs" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Science, the Arts, and Technology</a>.</p>]]></content:encoded>

<p>This year marked the 20th Anniversary of the <a class="external-link" href="http://www.wit.org.au/" target="_self" title="">Women in Technology (WiT) </a>Awards, which was founded by 10 women in 1997 and has grown to become one of the leading industry associations for women in Australia. WiT represents the interests of all women in the fields of Information Technology and Life Sciences Technology and provides a safe networking and learning environment for ladies at all stages of their careers.</p>]]></content:encoded>

    <content:encoded xmlns:content="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/content/"><![CDATA[<p><a class="external-link" href="http://www.prostatecentre.com/" target="_self" title=""><img src="http://www.australianprostatecentre.org/images/vpc.jpg" alt="Vancouver Prostate Centre" class="image-left" title="Vancouver Prostate Centre" /></a>The <a class="external-link" href="http://www.prostatecentre.com/" target="_self" title="">Vancouver Prostate Centre</a> (VPC) is a Canadian National Centre of Excellence and is a designated <a href="http://www.nce-rce.gc.ca/NetworksCentres-CentresReseaux/CECR-CECR_eng.asp" target="_blank">Centre of Excellence for Commercialization and Research</a>.</p>
<p>This disease-specific centre focuses on improving longevity and quality of life for patients in BC, and around the world by developing a deeper understanding of the reasons for treatment resistance in advanced prostate cancer and translating that into new products and treatments.</p>
<p>VPC includes a large outpatient clinic which sees thousands of British Columbian men annually, and offers the services of respected surgeons and clinicians who set best practices for care delivered in British Columbia.</p>
<p>The Centre's comprehensive, in-house research program includes molecular biology and functional genomics, and encompasses active clinical trials, socio-behavioral studies and research into complementary and alternative medicine. </p>
<p>The combination of a large patient clinic and <a href="http://www.pctriadd.com/clinical-trials/overview">clinical trials facility</a>, together with a world-class translational research program, make the VPC the largest program of its kind in Canada.</p>
<p>The Vancouver Prostate Centre is hosted by the Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute and the University of British Columbia, and receives substantial financial support from the Vancouver General Hospital and University of British Columbia Hospital Foundation.</p>]]></content:encoded>
